About Us
The time has come to announce our retirement. We truly appreciate and want to thank our amazing customers who supported the Diller families throughout the years! Each spring we looked forward to seeing our customers, sharing stories about their favorites plants from the previous year and just talking about life in general. We will miss seeing you. We are excited to move on to the next chapter in our lives, traveling and most importantly, spending time with our families and grandchildren.
Although our greenhouses are no longer open, we encourage you to continue the support of local, family-owned greenhouses and garden centers in Southwest Iowa and the metro area.
Diller Greenhouses was a local family-owned and operated small business in Council Bluffs, Iowa. We took great pride in offering our customers quality plants, great selection and customer service. Plants were grown onsite starting in January each year. Our knowledgeable staff answered questions to help customers find the right plants for their homes and gardens.
Jeff's grandfather, Lawrence Diller, started the business in 1920, after returning home from WWI. He bought the property on Longview Loop and started growing vegetable seedlings for his garden and began his profession as a truck gardener. Several years later, he built his first greenhouse. Lawrence continued to add more greenhouses and cold frames to increase production of flowers, plants and produce. He sold his produce and plants in the Old Market area of Omaha. Years later, Jeff's parents - Dennis and Ethel - built greenhouses and cold frames on Longview Loop and sold plants during the Spring season. They continued their seasonal business until Jeff and Rhonda started to build more greenhouses when they took over in 1976 and continued with the family business for almost 50 years.
Thank you again for the wonderful support from our customers!
